Golf In Wales
Wales provides the perfect location for your golfing holiday. Golf in Wales is a rapidly growing part of the Welsh tourism trade. Why? Well we have over 200 courses to choose from, many of which are located in stunning surroundings. There are perfect links courses by the sea, championship courses and some located amongst our famous valleys. Green Fees are often very good value for money too.
Of course the 2010 Ryder Cup is heading for Wales at the Celtic Manor Resort which is also home to the Wales Open. St Pierre near Chepstow has held many professional tournaments and has also played host to the Solhiem Cup.
The Ladies European Tour also comes to Wales at the Machynys Peninsular Golf and Country Club near Llanelli. This is a relatively new course designed by Jack Nicklaus' son Gary. It has stunning views of Carmarthenshire and the Gower Peninsular and will soon be a powerhouse amongst Welsh golf courses:
A few miles along the road from Machynys is Ashburnham Golf Club - one of the oldest and finest courses in Wales - a superb links test - where Ryder Cup hero Sam Torrance won his first European Tour title back in 1976 and Dai Rees won the PGA title in 1959.
Royal Porthcawl is frequently rated as the best course in Wales. It can be stern test when the wind blows! Many holes are classic links, and the sea is visible from every hole.
This is just a taster. Search here: Golf in Wales for golf courses on the Wales Tourist Guide.
